#RisingForCharleston Gun Violence Sabbath

Friday, June 26 - Sunday, July 19

praying together

The tragedy at Emanuel AME Church on June 17 brought us to our knees. But now it's time to rise. As people of faith, we are #RisingForCharleston, and committing ourselves to prayer, healing and action to reduce gun violence in the United States.

We're rising for the nine lives cut short at Mother Emanuel. We're rising for the 88 people who die from gun violence everyday and hundreds of others injured by gun violence every day in America. We're rising for the communities of color most impacted by the daily toll of this violence. And we're rising because we demand better from our elected officials.

1. Join the Sabbath

In the face of tragedy, we're stronger when we rise together. So let's rise for Charleston -- and for the 88 Americans who die every day from gun violence -- with a national call to prayer and action.

There are so many ways to get involved and to be a leader on this issue within your religious community.

3. Take Action

Our hearts are broken by the hate-fueled shooting in Charleston on June 17 that left nine black church members dead. So, together we're #RisingForCharleston and the 88 people who die from gun violence every day in America.

But now, as a nation, we're standing up and turning grief into action. Click here to sign a Rising For Charleston postcard to your governor and your members of Congress now. Tell them that we're Rising For Charleston and we expect them to do the same.
