3.6.2018

NEW YORK – The New York chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety today praised state lawmakers for passing Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) legislation out of the State Assembly. This life-saving bill would make it possible for families and law enforcement to petition courts for a temporary order that would restrict a person’s access to firearms to prevent them from harming themselves or others.

More information about this type of legislation is available here.

STATEMENT FROM JUNE RUBIN, VOLUNTEER CO-LEADER FOR NEW YORK CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“We are thrilled that today the State Assembly passed this life-saving Extreme Risk Protection Order legislation. We commend the State Assembly’s quick action and particularly Assemblywoman Simon’s leadership on this critical issue. Now more than ever we need to strengthen public safety protections for New Yorkers, and we urge the state Senate to act quickly and send this Extreme Risk Protection Order legislation to Governor Cuomo’s desk.”
