Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety Announce Participation in the Women’s March on Washington’s “Day Without a Woman”

“Day Without a Woman” is a One-Day Demonstration of Economic Solidarity in Support of Equity, Justice and Human Rights of Women and All Gender-Oppressed People

WASHINGTON – Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, announced today the organization will participate in the Women’s March on Washington’s “Day Without a Woman,” a one-day demonstration of economic solidarity in support of equity, justice and human rights of women and all gender-oppressed people happening tomorrow on International Women’s Day, March 8.

As an official partner of the Women’s March on Washington on January 21, 2017, thousands of volunteers with Moms Demand Action, members of the Everytown Survivor Network and members of the Everytown Creative Council marched at the Women’s March on Washington and more than 30 sister events around the country alongside gun violence survivors, cultural leaders, teachers, faith leaders and Americans from all walks of life who believe we can do more to protect our families and communities from gun violence.

Moms Demand Action released the following statements in support of the “Day Without A Woman” from Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action and Lucy McBath, Faith and Outreach Leader for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action and mother of slain teen Jordan Davis, who was shot and killed at a Florida gas station during an argument over loud music.

“Our volunteers – women and mothers, gun violence survivors, and everyday Americans – spend countless hours making our country safer while paid legislators too often ignore the gun violence crisis that kills more than 90 Americans and injures hundreds more every day.
