Julianne Moore, Cynthia Rowley, Everytown Announce Launch of Everytown Fashion Council

NEW YORK – Everytown for Gun Safety, Julianne Moore and Cynthia Rowley today announced the launch of the Everytown Fashion Council. Everytown for Gun Safety is the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country, with over three million supporters. The new Everytown Fashion Council will focus on engaging the power of the fashion community to support gun safety and help reduce the gun violence that kills over 90 Americans and injures hundreds every day. It will be housed under the umbrella of the of the successful Everytown Creative Council.

“Advocacy is all about expression and I’m thrilled that some of the top leaders in self-expression are coming together to help fight for gun safety,” said Julianne Moore, Academy Award-winning actress and chair of the Everytown Creative Council. “Every American has a role and a responsibility to help support gun safety and I know that the new Everytown Fashion Council will engage even more Americans in our movement.”

“Working off the success of the Everytown Creative Council, the Everytown Fashion Council will help to specifically engage the fashion industry to shine a light on the gun violence that kills over 90 Americans every day,” said fashion designer Cynthia Rowley. “I look forward to working with Julianne and the other members on projects promoting gun violence awareness and gun safety in our country.”

The Everytown Fashion Council includes Julianne Moore and Cynthia Rowley, as well as members Rosie Assoulin, Kenneth Cole, Michael Colovos, Nicole Colovos, Tom Ford, Mara Hoffman, Romeo Hunte, Donna Karan, Derek Lam, Zac Posen, Adam Selman, Christian Siriano, Anna Sui and Rachel Zoe.

“The fashion community’s boldness and creativity give it a powerful voice,” said John Feinblatt, President of Everytown for Gun Safety. “The Everytown Creative Council will get even more Americans talking and taking action in the fight to end gun violence, and we’re extraordinarily grateful to Julianne and Cynthia for their leadership.”

The Fashion Council will partner with Everytown on an ongoing basis to help recruit more people to join the gun violence prevention movement and achieve victories that will save lives.

“America’s gun homicide rate is more than 25 times the average of other high-income countries – that’s inexcusable,” said fashion designer Christian Siriano. “I’m inspired by the work Julianne and Cynthia have already done to help solve this public health crisis and I look forward to joining forces with my peers on the Everytown Fashion Council to develop creative solutions to raising awareness around – and ultimately ending – gun violence in America.”
