CHICAGO – The Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today responded after a shooting at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. According to press reports, a gunman shot multiple people at the hospital, killing at least one person.

Every day in the U.S. on average, nearly 100 people are killed with guns, and hundreds more are wounded. More information on gun violence in the U.S. is available here.

“We’re thinking today of everyone affected by this horrifying shooting,” said Valerie Simutis, a volunteer with the Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “We shouldn’t have to live this way.”
