Reports Indicate the Gunman Shot and Killed at Least One Person and Wounded at Least Six Others Before Fatally Shooting Himself

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, responded to reports that a gunman shot and killed at least one person and wounded at least six others at a yoga studio in Tallahassee before fatally shooting himself.

“Tallahassee is my home,” said Kate Kile, a Tallahassee-based volunteer with the Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “It’s a wonderful place to raise a family, and yet just like every other American community, we are not immune to the gun violence that takes nearly 100 American lives every day. I am heartbroken for the families impacted by this senseless act. On Tuesday, I will honor them with action by voting for gun sense candidates who will work to pass life saving policies. The time to elect real leaders who will act to save lives is now.”

Every day, 96 American are killed with guns and hundreds more are shot and wounded. The effects of gun violence extend far beyond these casualties – gun violence shapes the lives of millions of Americans who witness it, know someone who was shot or live in fear of the next shooting.
