Everytown Victory Fund Will Spend $1.7 Million to Run TV in the Atlanta Media Market and Digital Ads Across Georgia’s 6th Congressional District

NEW YORK – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund (“Everytown Victory Fund”) announced a partnership with House Majority PAC to re-elect Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-06) and announced that it will spend $1.7 million on television and digital ads in Georgia, which will begin running the week of September 15. The advertising campaign will include $1.2 million in television ads, which will run in the Atlanta media market, and $500,000 in digital ads, which will run across Georgia’s 6th congressional district. Everytown Victory Fund will partner with House Majority PAC to produce the ads.

“Just as she promised, Representative McBath has led the charge to pass the common-sense gun safety laws our nation so desperately needs,” said John Feinblatt, head of Everytown Victory Fund. “Everytown is incredibly proud to count Lucy as an alumnus, and we’ll have her back through Election Day and beyond, as she continues to honor the memory of her son, Jordan, with action.”

“2018 proved that gun safety is a winning issue to run on in Georgia and beyond, and we’ll see more of the same this November,” said Charlie Kelly, senior political advisor for Everytown Victory Fund. “Our investments, paired with the unparalleled power of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers, will help send Rep. McBath back to Congress and beat Karen Handel – again.”

“Lucy McBath ran for Congress to be a leader on gun safety, and in the past two years she has kept her promises,” said Abby Curran Horrell, executive director of House Majority PAC. “In addition to her leadership on gun safety, she has also voted consistently to strengthen families by working to expand access to healthcare and reduce the cost of prescription drugs. We’re proud to partner with Everytown for Gun Safety to ensure Rep. McBath continues her work in Congress.”

McBath’s son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2012 by a man who objected to the music he and his friends were playing in their car. After her son was killed, McBath left her 30-year career with Delta Airlines and dedicated her life to ending gun violence, becoming a national leader with Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action. McBath’s deep roots in the gun violence prevention movement were at the forefront of her campaign.

A May survey of voters in 13 battleground states including Georgia showed that gun safety-themed messages were among the most impactful at moving voters’ support to Joe Biden, and that messaging focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on America’s gun violence crisis was the second most effective overall at shifting support to Biden.

This year, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund will spend $60 million on the 2020 elections, doubling what they spent during the 2018 midterm elections.
