NEW YORK – Everytown for Gun Safety and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, tonight released the following statements on the passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
“Our country is safer and more just because of Justice Ginsburg,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Last year, when the Supreme Court heard its first major Second Amendment case in almost a decade, it was Justice Ginsburg who dismantled the gun lobby’s argument and championed common sense, as she did so many times before. This is a devastating loss, but Justice Ginsburg’s legacy will live on in the generations of Americans she inspired to take up the law in the service of our country’s highest ideals.”
“As people across the country mourn the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we remember her legacy,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “Her voice and courage will be deeply missed, but there’s no doubt that we are a better, safer country thanks to her fierce determination. And now we fight for Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We fight. Just like she did.”
Mitch McConnell and his allies in the Senate are refusing to do the right thing for gun safety in our country. It's time for us to make clear that their actions have consequences. Help elect Gun Sense Candidates by signing up to phonebank in battleground states.Sign Up
