Everytown for Gun Safety Launches Resource to Assist Those Seeking Federal Grant Programs that Provide Gun Violence Prevention Resources

6.11.2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund announced the launch of GovGrant Navigator, an online tool to help those seeking federal funding navigate federal grant programs that provide funding and resources to prevent gun violence. The GovGrant Navigator contains an extensive database of federal grant programs and resources Everytown has identified that support gun violence prevention efforts, covering numerous federal agencies and a broad range of purpose areas.

“With gun violence now the leading cause of death for American young people, we must do everything in our power to connect life-saving programs to much-needed resources — which is where our new GovGrant Navigator comes in,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Our GovGrant Navigator will help break down the barriers that have prevented gun safety leaders from accessing federal dollars.”

“It’s one thing to secure federal funding for gun violence prevention — it’s another to ensure those who need it can access it,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “This tool will empower grassroots leaders and frontline workers by simplifying information about federal resources, enabling them to become even stronger advocates in the fight for gun safety.”

More about GovGrant Navigator:

  • The GovGrant Navigator indicates which grant programs are currently open for submitting applications, and it displays relevant application deadlines.
  • Each grant program identified through a GovGrant Navigator search includes a link to the federal agency webpage for that program, which provides instructions for how users can apply for a particular grant.
  • Users can tell the GovGrant Navigator what type of applicant they are — a local government, a non-profit or community organization, a school district, a business, a researcher, etc. — and the GovGrant Navigator will identify the grant programs for which that type of applicant is eligible to apply.
  • Users can also filter search results in the GovGrant Navigator to identify grant programs that support particular purpose areas, such as grants that support community violence prevention and intervention, school safety and programming, trauma-informed care, court system improvements, survivor support, and many more.
  • The GovGrant Navigator also provides tips and guidance for users to familiarize themselves with federal grantmaking agencies and their processes, including how to get the most up-to-date information from administering agencies and how to seek assistance from their federal lawmakers.
