Everytown for Gun Safety Announces $400,000 ‘Don’t Look Away’ Ad Campaign Urging Senators to Take Action

NEW YORK – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced a new $400,000 ad buy across the country urging Senators to take action and reach a deal on gun safety measures. The ads are targeted in the key states of Alaska, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah using a variety of platforms including billboards, newspaper ads, and digital ads over the next week.

“The American public is demanding action, and we’re going to make sure Senators hear that message loud and clear,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “When Senators open up their local newspaper, drive to the airport, or look up something online, our ads amplifying the need for action will be impossible to miss, and we’ll keep beating the drum as long as it takes to get lifesaving laws onto the President’s desk.”
“We’re seeing a groundswell of people rising up and using their voices to demand action from their lawmakers to save lives from gun violence – and these ads will make sure Senators can’t look away,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “We don’t have to accept what happened in Buffalo as normal, what happened in Uvalde as normal, or any of the gun violence epidemic that takes over 110 lives per day as normal — and we won’t.”
The ads will run for the next week as bipartisan conversations continue on gun violence prevention legislation. There has been a groundswell of support for the Senate to take action following tragedies in Uvalde and Buffalo over the last month, including hundreds of Moms Demand Action and Student Demand Action volunteers gathering outside the Capitol last week following the shooting, more than 200 school walkouts nationwide organized by Students Demand Action, and thousands of Texans showing up on Friday morning and protesting outside of the NRA convention. This week, Moms Demand Action volunteers have been delivering petitions to the offices of key Senators across the country urging them to take action.
