Everytown For Gun Safety Action Fund Announces Endorsement Of Incumbent Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker

10.17.2018

BOSTON – Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund today announced it will endorse incumbent gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker for re-election. Baker is running on a platform that includes strengthening gun safety laws in Massachusetts.

Everytown is all-in on the midterm elections and gun violence survivors and volunteers with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will be knocking on doors and making calls to elect gun sense candidates.

STATEMENT FROM JOHN FEINBLATT, PRESIDENT OF EVERYTOWN FOR GUN SAFETY:

“Everytown is proud to endorse Governor Baker, who understands that gun safety is not a right-or-left issue — it’s a life-or-death issue. Thanks to Governor Baker’s leadership, the people of Massachusetts are safer — and their state continues to be a national leader on gun violence prevention.”

STATEMENT FROM MOLLY MALLOY, VOLUNTEER WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“The Moms Demand Action chapter of Massachusetts has been grateful for Governor Baker’s commitment to enacting common sense gun laws in our state. We are pleased Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund is endorsing him for Governor of Massachusetts as he has repeatedly demonstrated his willingness to take action to reduce gun violence.”

Governor Charlie Baker has also received the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction and has proven himself to be a supporter of common-sense gun safety measures by signing a lifesaving bipartisan red flag law. Red flag legislation empowers families and law enforcement to seek an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), a court order that will temporarily restrict a person’s access to firearms when they pose a risk of using them to harm themselves or others.

Since 2014, Everytown for Gun Safety has taken the fight for common-sense gun legislation state-by-state, in partnership with its grassroots arm Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. There has been significant progress in the states, defeating dangerous gun lobby legislation and passing common-sense gun laws that will help save lives.
