Everytown Applauds Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy for Taking Action to Close the Terror Gap, Calls on Congress to Close Loopholes

12.14.2015

NEW YORK — Everytown for Gun Safety today applauded Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy for announcing that he would take what would likely be a first-in-the-nation executive order, pending federal government approval, to keep suspected terrorists from buying guns in Connecticut. The group released the following statement from President John Feinblatt calling on Congress to stand up for American safety over gun lobby interests:

“Once again, when Congress fails to stand up to the gun lobby, state leaders step in and take action to protect their communities.

“We applaud Governor Malloy for taking action to help close the Terror Gap – but we reiterate that this is a problem that requires a federal solution. That’s why it’s long past time for Congress to put American safety ahead of gun lobby interests and take action to close the Terror Gap.”
