THORNTON, Colo. – The Colorado chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement regarding the fatal shooting of at least three people at a Walmart on Wednesday evening. While information is still unfolding, initial reports indicate that the gunman “nonchalantly” walked in the front door of the store and opened fire using a handgun, killing two men and a woman. The gunshots appeared to be random and aimed at people in the front of the store. The suspect is now in custody.

STATEMENT FROM HOPE FRANCIS, VOLUNTEER WITH THE COLORADO CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“As a member of the Thornton community, I am terrified and shocked by last night’s shooting at Walmart, and my heart goes out to the victims and their families. No one should have to fear for their life or their family’s lives during their daily activities. This tragic news reminds us that we cannot stand complacent and we must continue to elevate the conversation about solutions to the gun violence that affects our country. I urge our elected officials to do more to address gun violence and help save lives.”
