10.22.2019

Initial Reports Indicate at Least One Person Was Wounded

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The California chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, and Students Demand Action, both parts of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement after reports of a shooting at Ridgeway High School in Santa Rosa, California.

STATEMENT FROM JOAN KAZEROUNIAN, VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH THE CALIFORNIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“We should all feel confident that our children will return home from school each day unharmed, and gun violence should be the last thing on our kids’ minds. Instead, once again, when students should be focused on learning, gunfire erupted at an American high school. We must keep working to end gun violence in our schools and our communities.”

STATEMENT FROM RONI WEISSMAN, A STUDENTS DEMAND ACTION NATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER FROM THE BAY AREA:

“We should all feel free to go to school every day without fear of gun violence. I’m heartbroken that another California high school experienced the horror of a school shooting. Today’s shooting is a sad reminder that we must continue to fight for stronger gun laws and stronger policies to keep our schools safe.”
