DIGITAL PROJECT MANAGER

Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy group in the country, is expanding its project management and web development capabilities to support our ground-breaking legislative, fundraising, and research campaigns.

We’re seeking a skilled project manager who can take high-profile digital products and websites from conception to launch — managing agencies and freelancers, and coordinating across the senior leadership, communications, research and digital departments. You’ll be responsible for helping launch projects as varied as a gun safety awareness microsite, a legislator call tool, and an online gun sale interactive report. Requires familiarity of all aspects of digital advocacy including: creative design, front-end development, CMS / CRM management, and site administration. We’re looking for a project manager, not a coder.

The position is based in New York City and reports to the Director of Digital Content Strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage web development teams, designers, vendors, and internal resources to gather requirements and facilitate project delivery on schedule.
  • Think strategically about how we can use digital tools to impact change.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Keep detailed timelines and project plans for all deliverables and milestones.
  • Assure quality control for all deliverables.
  • Ensure all projects and associated documents are properly archived and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Provide post launch analysis on all major projects, and recommend ways to optimize existing technical assets.
  • Promote and ensure a culture of security across all web assets and accounts, managing Enterprise Last Pass and training staff on best practices.
  • Report and escalate all issues to management as needed.
  • Train campaign staff on utilizing online organizing and research tools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience project managing digital projects or products with proven skills in creating efficient processes, ensuring clear communications with key stakeholders and delegating responsibilities.
  • Believes one need not choose between form and function.
  • Knowledge of effective web design and development best practices including responsive design.
  • Desire to excel in a setting with many competing projects, tight deadlines and long hours.
  • Ability to communicate technical and complex information easily verbally and in writing.
  • CMS experience with WordPress, Drupal, or other software.
  • Passion for the intersection of beautiful design and brilliant tech.

SENIOR ANALYST

Everytown for Gun Safety seeks to hire an entrepreneurial Senior Analyst to develop robust analysis and actionable insights in digital mobilization campaigns, including our advertising, website, social media, email, and SMS programs. You’ll be responsible for helping guide the data-driven decision making behind our efforts to educate, persuade, and mobilize our 3+ million grassroots supporters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track, analyze, optimize advertising, website, social media, email, and SMS programs.
  • Standardize reporting and dashboards that reflect organizational goals and communicate and/or visualize results for stakeholders and organizational leaders.
  • Develop and manage testing priorities and roadmap in consultation with the Chief Data Officer and digital stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data tracking systems and processes across the organization and implement those improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Field and Outreach departments on improving relationship tracking in VAN and Salesforce.
  • Manage activist and donor acquisition efforts by overseeing budget, optimizing conversions, tracking long-term value and maintaining projections.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience in a digital or technology role with a focus on analytics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment within a growing, diverse team with unpredictable hours.
  • Experience managing data or analytics for a large campaign or non-profit organization.

NATIONAL VAN ADMINISTRATOR

Everytown seeks a National VAN Administrator to manage the day-to-day voter file and volunteer management tool: Everytown’s VAN instance. This is an entry-level position and will require someone who can work with both technical experts and non-technical staff and activists. This person must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure. The VAN Administrator will implement an organization-wide data architecture and analytics strategy.

Responsible for implementing data department goals at Everytown, this role will report to the Chief Data Officer. This is an ideal opportunity for an entrepreneurial and mission-driven data practitioner to implement data systems and architecture necessary to build a movement that fights for laws that will reduce gun violence and save lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer Everytown’s VAN, and learn to assist in administering Everytown’s suite of field, campaign, and contact tools including, but not limited to NGP-VAN, EveryAction, ActionKit, and Salesforce. This includes managing user and security settings, providing technical assistance, and monitoring use of the systems to ensure compliance with Everytown data practices;
  • Day-to-Day management of users and committees in Everytown VAN;
  • Track data and disseminate analysis of program results, volunteer contact, voter turnout, early vote and absentee turnout, voter registration, and data relevant to field, campaigns, programs, and movement building;
  • Produce reports and other materials needed to track, support and coordinate table and partner work;
  • Manipulate voter, membership, volunteer and other person level data;
  • Work with staff and volunteers to establish best practices and standards for data collection, acquisition and preservation;
  • Make recommendations and provide strategic guidance on ways to make Everytown programs more efficient and effective;
  • Train staff and volunteers on VAN and other tools, targeting techniques, and best practices for using data effectively;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two campaign cycles or one-year experience administering a VAN (Voter Activation Network) committee for campaign, issue advocacy group, or political party, including creating users, survey questions, and activist codes and managing committee level structure;
  • At least one cycle of prior campaign experience preferred, ideally in field or data;
  • Advanced skills using MS Excel necessary, and experience using SQL or other relational database, including creating queries and manipulating large data sets, experience a plus;
  • Experience training people, especially volunteers on a variety of activities, and particularly on the use of VAN;
  • Ability to manage several tasks or project concurrently and prioritize work effectively;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, especially technical ideas to non-technical people, work well under pressure, be detail oriented and meet deadlines;
  • Experience and comfort leading, conducting and facilitating trainings preferred;

ASSOCIATE REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR STATE AFFAIRS

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking a motivated individual with issue advocacy/policy campaign experience and strong interpersonal skills to serve as Associate Regional Director for State Affairs. This position reports to the Director of State Affairs and will help build and strengthen opportunities to pass life-saving gun violence prevention laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directing state legislative, ballot initiative, and other state/local campaigns in select states.
  • Developing and implementing strategic, tactical, and communications plans in the states.
  • Providing policy analysis and other guidance to local advocacy allies, lawmakers, and key office holders.
  • Hiring and managing state-based consultants.
  • Establishing and overseeing contracts with outside vendors and consultants.
  • Collaborating and cultivating relationships with national and local partner organizations, law enforcement, and elected officials.
  • Building and strengthening coalitions.

CAMPAIGNS COORDINATOR

The Campaigns Coordinator will be fully dedicated to two Everytown departments, the State Legislative Affairs and Digital departments, supporting their day-to-day work. We’re looking for a flexible problem-solver with exceptional attention to detail to join us. We ask candidates to make a two-year commitment to the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounting and contracts – Track all expenses and give director and deputies real-time intelligence on budgets. Manage invoice coding, tracking and processing with operations. Assist on departmental requests and sending materials to chapters.
  • Interdepartmental coordination – Craft meeting agendas, take notes and follow up on next steps.
  • Communications and Document management – Provide research support, and help develop presentations. Copy editing as needed.

PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager will manage the overall process by which our department produces the research materials necessary to support state legislative advocacy efforts nationwide. This includes overseeing the work of researchers covering the Northeast, Southern, and Western regions of the country, and taking direct responsibility for producing research on the Midwest region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with a cross-departmental team to generate research materials that support advocacy efforts in the Midwest region
  • Manage the work of three Research Team members producing materials to support advocacy in the other regions, including but not limited to:
    • Running weekly meetings with Research Team members, and ensuring smooth communication of regional research tasks and priorities to and from the Research Director and other relevant stakeholders
    • Working with Research Team members to conceive of, develop, strengthen, and coordinate the team’s research products
    • Managing the production of major state-based research reports from data acquisition to design and release
  • Oversee the team’s ongoing tracking and analysis of notable incidents of gun violence (including school shootings, unintentional child shootings, mass shootings), and integrating that tracking into state-based advocacy initiatives

DEPUTY NATIONAL ORGANIZING DIRECTOR

Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action are changing the conversation around guns in America, from issue advocacy, to corporate campaigns, to our ballot and electoral work. We’re continuing to build our organizing team and we’re looking for someone who likes a fight, has deep management experience with an exploding movement, and the strategy expertise to focus resources and win.

The Deputy National Organizing Director is an experienced senior strategist who creates and oversees field and volunteer organizing campaigns, electoral work, ballot initiatives, work with impacted communities, whatever it takes to move states and eventually the federal government forward on gun violence prevention legislation. This position oversees organizing work in a section of the country, creating and implementing a vision for organizing efforts that build our power for the long-term while winning short term victories. Everytown seeks an individual who can develop leaders and build movement-building strategies.

While managing a team of Organizing Managers to build power through state volunteer chapters, this position is keeping their eye on the long game, assessing opportunities and challenges, working alongside the policy staff to push gun violence prevention legislation and set the NRA back on their heels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with the National Organizing Director and State Affairs teams, create strategic organizing plans to accomplish organizational movement-building and campaign goals on national corporate, federal legislative, state legislative, ballot and other campaigns.
  • Oversee and manage organizing department staff, including regional Moms Demand Action Organizing Managers, in-state staff, and others to accomplish strategic organizing goals, engage our existing base of supporters and also develop strategies to engage under-represented constituencies, such as communities of color and low-income communities. Usually 3-5 direct reports, with periods of larger short-term organizing teams.
  • Work with other departments, including state legislative affairs, outreach, data, communications, digital and policy to ensure effective collaboration on projects and campaigns; manage cross-departmental projects effectively.
  • Train and support our volunteer leaders in skills necessary for them to succeed in their various roles; help plan and run small, medium and large trainings that will grow our base and improve our impact; create tools to augment and support our training plans. Coordinate communication with volunteers on national issues and activities.
  • Act as a representative of Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America to partner organizations, elected officials, grassroots volunteers, and other stakeholders.

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country, is seeking a passionate, dedicated professional to join our team as a Communications Assistant. As the counterweight to the gun lobby, our work has a very strong focus on pushing for stronger gun laws in state legislatures.

Primary responsibilities include twice daily media monitoring reports, distributing press releases, tracking incoming media inquiries, as well as building and managing media lists for proactive outreach. Additional responsibilities include supporting the execution of communications strategy for Everytown and all of its parts – Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the Everytown Survivor Network and Mayors Against Illegal Guns – on both a national level and with local supporters across the country. The position has a focus on supporting the communications work for multiple state legislative campaigns at a time, which, like all politics, can often be unpredictable. Opportunities for growth including writing and direct engagement with journalists.

Organizational and strong writing skills required as well as willingness to work in a campaign-like environment and schedule. Job candidates should feel comfortable juggling multiple projects at a time and ready to help other communications team members on everything from doing media research to helping to write press releases.

COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country, is seeking a passionate, dedicated professional to join our team as a Communications Associate. As the counterweight to the gun lobby, our work has a very strong focus on pushing for stronger gun laws in state legislatures.

Primary responsibilities include supporting the development and execution of communications strategy for Everytown and all of its parts – Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the Everytown Survivor Network and Mayors Against Illegal Guns – on both a national level and with local supporters across the country. This includes extensive writing and direct engagement with journalists on both reactive and proactive media relations. The position has a focus on managing and executing the communications work for multiple state legislative campaigns at a time, which, like all politics, can often be unpredictable.

Organizational and strong writing skills required, as well as a willingness to work in a campaign-like environment is mandatory. Job candidates should feel comfortable learning and translating policy positions, engaging with the media and juggling multiple projects at a time. Ideal candidates will have experience in writing everything from talking points, to press releases to opinion pieces and more.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-6 years of experience
  • Exceptional writing ability with the ability to create dynamic, persuasive communications materials
  • Proven communication and media relations experience, with the ability to work effectively across various media and platforms
  • Interest in politics and advocacy on both a national and state legislative level
  • Willingness to work with a growing team in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment (sometimes unpredictable hours and crisis situations)
  • Be a dynamic team player and maintain a sense of humor
  • While not required, knowledge of gun violence prevention issues is a plus
  • Position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.

MID-LEVEL COMMUNICATIONS ROLE

As the counterweight to the gun lobby, our work has a very strong focus on pushing for stronger gun laws in state legislatures.

Primary responsibilities include developing and executing communications strategy for Everytown and all of its parts – Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the Everytown Survivor Network and Mayors Against Illegal Guns – on both a national level and with local supporters across the country. Candidates should feel comfortable liaising with on-the-ground volunteers, gun violence survivors and mayors across the country to implement strategies. The position entails extensive writing and editing responsibilities and direct engagement with journalists on both reactive and proactive media relations. The position has a focus on managing and executing the communications work for multiple state legislative campaigns at a time, which, like all politics, can often be unpredictable.

Organizational and strong writing skills required, as well as a willingness to work in a campaign-like environment is mandatory. Job candidates should feel comfortable learning and translating policy positions, engaging with the media and cultivating relationships, booking and preparing key spokespeople for interviews. Ideal candidates will have experience in writing everything from talking points, to press releases to opinion pieces and more.

  • 3-7 years of experience
  • Exceptional writing ability with the ability to create dynamic, persuasive communications materials – including press releases, op-eds, remarks and more
  • Proven communication and media relations experience, with the ability to work effectively across various media and platforms
  • Interest in politics and advocacy on both a national and state legislative level
  • Willingness to work with a growing team in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment (sometimes unpredictable hours and crisis situations)
  • Deep entrepreneurialism and flexibility, with an ability to maneuver effectively in the face of uncertainty
  • Team management experience
  • Be a dynamic team player and maintain a sense of humor
  • While not required, knowledge of gun violence prevention issues is a plus
  • While not required, fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.
